Lemonweir Elementary School: Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher

The Tomah Area School District has the following teaching vacancy beginning July 1, 2024:         
                                     
Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher – Lemonweir Elementary
Tomah Area School District is seeking an innovative educator who can work collaboratively with colleagues, develop positive relationships with students and parents, and build partnerships with the community.  This position requires a dynamic and progressive teacher who has a strong background in:  1) RtI and PBIS, 2) Professional Learning Communities, 3) Team Teaching, and 4) Differentiated Instruction.  The preferred candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, and demonstrate a positive attitude.  Knowledge of special education programs, processes, and procedures is preferred, especially functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans.  The candidate will consult with other IEP team members, teachers, and parents and assist in the preparation of an IEP for each identified student; test and evaluate programs for measuring aptitude, achievement and interests of students and assist the instructional staff so programs can be developed or modified to meet the needs of each student.  Candidates must have knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI or ProACT) strategies and techniques, or willingness to be trained. 
 
This is a full-time position that will follow a 45-15 calendar for the 2024-25 school year.  Co-curricular coaching and advisor positions are available. 
 
Qualifications:  Must have, or be eligible for, a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued #1811 (Learning Disabilities) or #1801 (Cross-Categorical Special Education) License.  Applicants who hold a valid regular education DPI Teaching certification in any area, and are interested to pursue an emergency special education license for this position, may also apply.
