Alliant Energy is an investor-owned public utility company. We are proud to be a Midwest energy company providing service to approximately 1 million electric customers and more than 400,000 gas customers in over 1,300 communities throughout Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota.
Our corporate headquarters are located in Madison, Wis. with general offices located in Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, Iowa. Our utility operations and generation facilties are located in more than 200 communities throughout our service territory. Alliant Energy stock is traded under the ticker ''LNT.''
Alliant Energy has a long history in Wisconsin and one of its utility subsidiaries, Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), traces its history back to 1917 when it was known as Eastern Wisconsin Electric Company. The company's name changed to WPL in 1924.
WPL serves parts of southern, south-central, central and northeast Wisconsin. In Wisconsin, WPL provides electric service to more than 600 communities across 34 counties and gas service to more than 250 communities covering 21 counties.
WPL employs more than 2000 in Wisconsin in more than 30 regional, operational and generation offices, including an office in Tomah.The company also has ownership in more than a dozen generating facilities in the state.
