The Tomah Area School District has the following vacancy beginning in the 2026-2027 school year:

Student Services Professional/Universal Student Support – Lemonweir Elementary
The Tomah Area School District is seeking an innovative Student Services Professional who can work collaboratively with colleagues, including four elementary counselors, develop positive relationships with students and parents, and build partnerships within the community. 
 
The Student Services Professional: Universal Student Support provides proactive services and supports that promote the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic success of all students. This position is responsible for implementing universal prevention and support programming through classroom instruction, social-emotional learning (SEL) activities, school-wide initiatives, and collaboration with staff and families.


The position serves as a key member of the building's student support team and works collaboratively with educators to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
 
Required: 

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning, student wellness, and school-based support systems.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
 
Preferred:
  • Experience implementing evidence-based SEL curricula.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-sensitive schools.
  • Experience facilitating classroom instruction and small group activities.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Universal Student Support
  • Plan and deliver classroom lessons that promote social-emotional, behavioral,   
          and academic success.
  • Implement district-approved social-emotional learning curriculum and related
          programming.
  • Support school-wide initiatives focused on student wellness, belonging,
          engagement, and positive school culture.
  • Facilitate small groups designed to strengthen social-emotional, academic, and
          behavioral skills.
  • Promote prevention strategies that support healthy relationships, emotional
          regulation, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making.

     
Collaboration and Consultation
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify student and
           classroom support needs.
  •  Provide consultation regarding student social-emotional development and
           effective support strategies.
  •  Assist staff in implementing proactive practices that support positive student
           outcomes.
  •  Partner with families to support student success and engagement.
     
Data-Based Problem Solving
  • Review and utilize student, school climate, attendance, and behavioral data to inform support efforts.
  •  Participate in MTSS, PBIS, and building leadership teams as assigned.
  •  Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of universal support systems and programming.
     
Student Services Support
  • Participate in IEP, Section 504, and other student support meetings as
            appropriate.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and service providers when
            appropriate.
  • Support transition planning and student adjustment across grade levels and
            school settings.

     
Other Duties
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records.
  • Participate in district and building professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
     
Work Environment
  • Frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and community partners.
  • Work occurs primarily within school settings, including classrooms and
            student support areas.
  • Occasional evening meetings or activities may be required.
 
This is a full-time position beginning in the 2026-27 school year.  Co-curricular coaching and advisor positions are available. 
 
Qualifications: Must have, or must receive prior to the first day of work, a valid Wisconsin DPI licensure as a: School Counselor; and/or School Social Worker; and/or School Psychologist. Will consider candidates working on master degree.
