Tomah High School: Drama Assistant Director - School Play

The Tomah Area School District has the following extracurricular vacancy beginning in the 2025-26 school year:  THS Assistant Drama Director – School Play

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
The THS Assistant Drama Director – School Play is responsible for helping to plan, coordinate, and direct all aspects of the annual school play at the high school.  The assistant director shall help coordinate and conduct tryouts /auditions, and schedule necessary rehearsals as appropriate.  The assistant director will engage volunteers and other community support as necessary to fulfill all aspects of production, marketing, ticketing, etc.  This person shall report directly to the Drama director and/or principal or designee.
 
Performance dates for the 2025-2026 school year are February 20, 21, & 22, 2026.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Schedule and conduct auditions with Director
• Schedule and conduct a sufficient number of rehearsals
• Organize volunteers as necessary to support the production
• Organize volunteers as necessary to support marketing and ticketing operations
• Coordinate technical aspects of the production with appropriate district staff
• Coordinate the design and construction of the set
• Enforce student activity handbook

• Willingness to devote time and effort necessary before, during, after school and weekends
• Knowledge and experience with theatrical productions, including set design, and costuming
• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
