Introducing Iron Oak Energy Solutions, formed from the strategic combination of Covia Energy and Black Mountain Sand to create a premier frac sand mining company, delivering superior products and solutions to diversified oil and natural gas markets across North America. In 2025, Iron Oak Energy acquired HC Minerals to add to their Northern White Sand portfolio. The combination positions Iron Oak Energy with unmatched scale, reliability, and deliverability to customers in all major oil and gas shale plays.

Northern White Sand is the highest-quality natural frac sand available to the oil and gas industry due to its higher silica content, crush strength and conductivity. Iron Oak Energy’s state-of-the-art Northern White Sand facilities produce monocrystalline, pure-quartz sand in various mesh sizes. Many areas throughout the US and Western Canada depend on Northern White Sand companies to serve as a consistent supplier of quality sand for proppant intense well programs. Our Northern White Sand can also be resin-coated for high-temperature and high-pressure wells.

Iron Oak Energy has two locations within the Tomah area - Tunnel City and Wyeville. Together, they employ 138 full time employees.
